Yankee Rose looking to secure 2nd GROUP 1

There is certainly a real buzz in the air for all concerned in the Yankee Rose camp as she looks to win her 2nd Group 1 race at just her 6th start this Saturday at Randwick, in the ATC Flight Stakes for 3YO Fillies.

Trainer David Vandyke has stated all along, that Yankee Rose will blossom 2nd up and her best chance to secure another Group 1 in the prestigious Flight Stakes. David didn't rule her out winning first up in the Golden Rose but believed she would improve considerably 2nd up and was happy if she was to run in the first half of the field, in which she did.

Yankee Rose has trained on particularly well and all looks on target for the daughter by All American to add to her already impressive record.

We were all very disappointed and feeling for Chris Waller and connections when we heard the news today that hot favourite for the race, 'Omei Sword', was scratched from the Flight Stakes as we also encountered a similar situation last preparation when Yankee Rose had to be scratched as the $1.28 favourite in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes due to a hoof issue.

The Yankee Rose camp are also extremely disappointed that Omei Sword won't be in action as we were really looking forward to the challenge and clash. Trainer David Vandyke was extremely bullish that Yankee Rose would show her best Saturday and would have upset the odds on favourite.

Group 1 races aren't simply handed out and the 5 remaining competitors will certainly test Yankee Rose. Jockey Blake Shinn and horse will need to be at their very best to overcome her impressive rivals.
