SNITZELWOODS REMARKABLE FORM REVERSAL

Lightly raced Snitzel gelding, SNITZELWOOD, had been completely out of form finishing long lasts in his previous 3 starts beaten well over 10 lengths each start.

Last Saturday the strapping bay gelding reversed his form completely romping away with a 5.5 length victory at Moe, leaving all involved scratching heads with what had gone wrong in previous starts.

From last to first?????

The answer – possibly blinkers off and some tuning up! A call made by a number of his owners to remove the blinkers!

The Lindsay Park camp, who train Snitzelwood under the care of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig, believed strongly that the lazy son of Snitzel needed blinkers to go forward as he just didn’t show enough speed without them. In track work the blinkers appeared to be the answer however race day with blinkers on, Snitzelwood would lead but fold at the turn and finish at the tail.

Last Saturday with blinkers off, some tuning up on the track and the kitchen sink thrown at him in training; Snitzelwood proved he was in a different class of horse from his rivals demolishing the mediocre field by 5.5 lengths. This was Snitzelwood’s 4th win in 16 starts with another 4 placings. He may not be of Group ability but he sure has given his loyal owners something to cheer about.

Congratulations to all the owners and my there be many more wins to come
