A Star on the rise - Star Sensation dominates at Randwick

Promising 3YO filly 'Star Sensation' made it back to back wins yesterday at Randwick after she dominated the benchmark 76 Fillies and mares handicap run over 1300m ridden by Koby Jennings.

Jockey Koby Jennings credits trainer Mark Newnham for helping rejuvenate the young rider’s career and yesterday the pair combined for a win on three-year-old filly Star Sensation (Star Witness) at Randwick. The lightly raced filly made it three wins from seven starts when overcoming a slow getaway yesterday to win the fillies and mares benchmark 76 handicap (1300m). “Even riding her in trackwork before I knew the horse’s name I said to Mark she’s a pretty good horse,’’ Jennings said. “So it’s good to get the job done.’’

Trainer Mark Newnham may look to Saturday grade as she has now won her last two in fine fashion. Exciting time for her connections. The filly has now amassed the sum of $107,650 in stake earnings from her short career to date.
