Model of consistency takes flight for Vandyke

Constant Flight was ultra-impressive scoring a three-length victory at Doomben on Wednesday.

The five-year-old gelding is the model of consistency with the recent win taking his current strike rate to 50% - 5 wins from 10 career starts.

Despite an exemplary race record, the Vandyke stable would be the first to admit that Constant Flight has not been the easiest horse to train, however, the patience of the stable and connections was well rewarded with a fourth metropolitan grade win.

Jockey Ryan Maloney returned to scale with nothing but praise for Constant Flight, who ran his last 600m of the race in 33.49s, after travelling beautifully in the lead for the entire journey.

“I felt that he had plenty left in the tank and had there been a horse to challenge him he would have given me even more.”

Stable representative, Emma Lehmann commented in her post-race interview, “He did that easily today – his post-race recovery and heart rate was very good quite soon after the run but we will see how he is in the next few days before picking out another target.”

The son of Written Tycoon was purchased for $220,000 from the 2015 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale from the draft of Attunga Stud.
