What an incredible day at Rosehill for Darby Racing, securing an unforgettable 1–2 finish in the prestigious Group 3 $1 million Golden Gift — a race that cements emerging juvenile stars on the path to greatness.

It was the brilliant 2YO colt Revengeance who shone brightest, taking out the rich feature and booking his golden ticket into next year’s $5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes. The striking brown colt, coming off an unlucky third in the Group 3 Breeders’ Plate at Randwick five weeks ago, showed his class and professionalism beyond his years.
Perfectly handled by gun hoop Josh Parr, Revengeance settled just off the speed before being unleashed at the top of the straight. The response was instant — he lengthened beautifully, showing both grit and polish to fend off the late challenge of stablemate Spicy Miss, who was gallant in defeat.
Making her debut, Spicy Miss was enormous — trapped three wide throughout yet still surging late to finish just a length behind her more experienced rival. She stamped herself as a filly with a massive future, with eyes now turning toward the $3 million Magic Millions on the Gold Coast in January.

Jockey Josh Parr was full of admiration for Revengeance after the win:
“He’s raw, but he’s improved enormously from his first start — it felt like a sit-and-steer job today. With further improvement, he’ll be a real force in the Autumn.”

Full credit goes to the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott team, masters of 2YO preparation, for their superb handling of of the colt. Keeping a juvenile up and thriving at this time of year is no easy feat, and today’s result reflects their exceptional horsemanship.
A huge congratulations to all the owners of Revengeance and Spicy Miss — both horses look to have exceptional careers ahead.

For Darby Racing, it was a day of joy, gratitude, and pride.
“God has certainly blessed us greatly — to run first and second in such a prestigious race is both humbling and overwhelming. It’s a day we’ll remember forever.”
