Randwick witnessed another chapter in the remarkable rise of Midnight Dynamite as the progressive gelding captured the Listed Civic Stakes in dominant fashion, securing the first black-type victory of his career.

Given a superb ride by Jason Collett, Midnight Dynamite enjoyed the perfect run throughout. Settling comfortably just behind the speed, Collett allowed the gelding to travel strongly before presenting him at exactly the right moment. Carrying the luxury weight of just 54kg, Midnight Dynamite cruised into contention approaching the home turn and, once asked for his effort, quickly put the race beyond doubt.

Showing his trademark acceleration and determination, he powered away from his rivals over the concluding stages, stamping himself as a horse with a very bright future.

The victory was a richly deserved reward for trainer Bjorn Baker and his hardworking team, whose patience and horsemanship continue to bring out the very best in the talented gelding. Every black-type success is hard-earned, and this one will be particularly satisfying for all involved.

A special congratulations must also go to Midnight Dynamite's loyal ownership group. Their patience and belief have been rewarded handsomely, with the gelding now banking more than $600,000 in prizemoney throughout his career. They have enjoyed a wonderful ride so far, and the exciting part is that it feels like there may still be plenty more to come.

Midnight Dynamite continues to improve with every preparation and every test placed in front of him. Today's performance suggested he has taken another significant step forward, raising the question of just how high his ceiling might be.

Attention now turns towards races such as the Winter Stakes or the Glasshouse Handicap, both appearing logical targets for the in-form gelding. And should he strike rain-affected ground at either assignment, his rivals may be in for a serious challenge. Midnight Dynamite has repeatedly shown his love for soft conditions and, when the sting comes out of the track, he seems to grow an extra leg.

His first black-type victory is now safely on the record, but if today's Civic Stakes triumph is any guide, the story of Midnight Dynamite is far from finished.
