Darby Racing enjoyed another successful two-state winning day, with UK import Grafton Street breaking through at Warwick Farm before Bat Out Of Hell returned to the winners’ circle at Eagle Farm in Queensland.
Grafton Street produced an impressive performance at just his third Australian start, relishing the step up in distance to score at Warwick Farm for trainer Bjorn Baker and jockey Rachel King.
The UK import showed plenty of toughness when it mattered, knuckling down strongly and finding the line like a horse with plenty more improvement still to come.
He is still learning his craft and adapting to Australian racing, but the signs are very encouraging. We believe he has the ability to develop into a Saturday-class horse and potentially beyond as he continues to mature and work through his grades.
Grafton Street is also an extremely well-bred horse and was another quality international prospect sourced for Darby Racing by Hubie de Burgh of de Burgh Equine from the Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale.
The winning continued north of the border when Bat Out Of Hell broke a lengthy drought with a terrific victory at Eagle Farm.
After spending a long time out of the winners’ circle, a change of scenery and a move to Queensland to join the Michael Freedman stable appears to have done the trick.
It was fantastic to see Bat Out Of Hell back winning again and, most importantly, reward his owners who have remained patient and loyal throughout the journey. Racing has its ups and downs, which makes victories like this one particularly satisfying.

The double takes Darby Racing’s tally to 16 wins for the 2026/27 season, with the team continuing to build strong momentum in the early stages of the new campaign.
