Darby Racing purchase 8 quality yearlings at the 2016 MAGIC MILLIONS

Another highly successful Magic Millions Premier yearling sale came to a close on Sunday with records continuing to tumble. The Darby Racing team were in force over the week, spending many long days working through the huge catalogue. Our hard work paid huge dividends after securing 8 yearlings from the sale, all of the highest calibre and all to be placed with our elite trainers.

We purchased 4 yearlings in the extremely strong first 4 sessions that concluded Saturday night. Sales stats for the first 4 sessions were simply amazing with 742 yearlings catalogued for total gross sales of $115,806,000 with an average of $195,618, some $25,000 up on last years sale.

We were again very active on Day 5 which is book 2 of the huge premier sale, purchasing 4 quality yearlings including lot 948, a smashing Testa Rosa colt from the draft of Willow Park. We had to out bid the Hawkes racing team who touted this strapping yearling the colt of Day 5. After a short negotiation it was agree that John, Michael and Wayne Hawkes would join the Darby Racing training ranks and kick off with this outstanding Testa Rosa colt.
