STEEL STRIKE DELIVERS DARBY RACING'S FIRST WIN OF THE 2026/27 SEASON

What a way to begin a brand new racing season.

On the official birthday of every thoroughbred in Australia, Steel Strike gave Darby Racing the perfect present, becoming our first winner of the 2026/27 season with a determined and exciting victory.

Having only recently joined the Darby Racing team after being purchased online in March, this was just his second start for his new ownership group, making the win even more rewarding for everyone involved.

The race was run at a genuine tempo, with Felix Majestic setting a strong speed from the outset. As the field straightened, Steel Strike had plenty of work to do, but champion jockey Tim Clark timed his run to perfection. Producing a powerful finishing burst, Steel Strike gradually reeled in the leader before surging past late to score an impressive victory.

Congratulations to our fantastic group of owners, who have been rewarded early in their journey with this exciting gelding. Wins like these are what racing is all about, and we're thrilled to share this special moment with you.

A huge thank you also goes to the outstanding training partnership of Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse, whose patience and expert placement have Steel Strike heading in the right direction.
