Dark Eyes shows real fight to salute at Canterbury

Snitzel 4YO gelding Dark Eyes, is building quite the winning record after conquering his 5th race win at just his 14th start.

Racing for the first time past the 1600m, Dark Eyes showed plenty of grit and determination to fight off the Chris Waller trained No Return to win the 1900m TAB.com.au Handicap by 3/4 of a length.

Trained to perfection by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott team, Dark Eyes was trialled and sent to the beach the week of his race to try and get his mind focused on winning.

Dark Eyes is an extremely hard horse to ride, lazy in track work and switching on and off in races, he has his share of ability but didn't knuckle down to win on Friday until No Return laid in on top of Dark Eyes straightening for home. Jockey Tim Clark, who is riding up a storm for Darby Racing, said that once No Return ducked in on top of Dark Eyes, it fired up the gelding, who went on to fight all the way down the straight to win well.

Dark Eyes is still putting it all together but may now be rewarded with a shot at the Listed Parramatta Cup run over 1900m at Rosehill run on the 18th of February.

Congratulations to all his owners
