Caprera breaks his maid in style
Our owners have had to be patient to see their Bjorn Baker trained gelding Caprera break his maiden however after stepping up to a suitable 1400m and plenty of time, it was worth the wait.
At just his 5th race start, Caprera was sent out to Orange last Saturday to contest a country maiden over 1400m, hoepfully win and give the gelding some much needed confidence. Caprera didn't let us down. Ridden off the speed by leading country rider Greg Ryan, Caprera unleashed a fantastic turn of foot to win his maiden in fantastic style.
Caprera always showed some talent early days and in fact lined up as a 2YO in the Breeders Plate and although finished last, needed time, maturity and distance to show his best.
We believe the son of Bernadini can now go on with it and hopefully win back to back races when Bjorn and his team step out the lightly raced gelding over the next week or so.
Congratulations to all his owners
