Darby / Deburgh Imports to the fore
It's been a great week for the Darby Racing European imports with 2 winners this week. Hand selected by one of the world's best judges, Hubie Deburgh from Deburgh Equine, more wins look in store for the handful of promising stayers. French galloper Canasta, gets his chance to win a Saturday 2000m race for Bjorn Baker and Glen Boss.
The imports are on a roll this week with a super staying performance from True Marvel at Hawkesbury Race Club Limited yesterday.
The French gelding settled nicely at the rear of the field under a patient ride from Kathy O'Hara. True Marvel then picked up around the turn, fighting Lord Tropicana down the outside to nab the win.
Trained by Matthew C Smith Racing Pty Ltd - Congratulations to all involved!
On Wednesday, first Australian start returns a win for Spirit Ridge on the Kensingto track.
The English import has really settled into Australia nicely following two seconds at the trials.
The last of the day saw plenty of work to do, but Spirit Ridge chased hard before gunning Agassi down in a thrilling finish.
A promising horse going forward. Fantastic to have jockey Robbie Dolan on board as he rode out his Metropolitan claim. Once again selected by De Burgh Equine late last year at the Tattersall's Horses In Training Sale.
Congratulations to all involved!
