Darby Double at Kembla!

Darby Racing and our wonderful owners enjoyed a day to remember at the Kembla Gong meeting, landing a brilliant double to close out the card in style.

First to strike was the highly promising New Zealand import Collect Your Cash, who produced a tough and classy performance to take out the Benchmark 88 over 1600m. Fresh off a decent spell, the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott team had the 5yo gelding tuned to the minute, presenting him in superb order for a first-up tilt.

Ridden confidently by Adam Hyeronimus, the gelding travelled sweetly throughout before letting down powerfully in the straight. Adam summed up the win perfectly post-race, saying:

“I was extremely confident he would be hard to beat today after the blinkers went on in a strong piece of work on Tuesday.”

But the Darby blue and white colours weren’t done yet…

Backing up immediately in the last race on the program, Midnight Dynamite delivered another super victory, this time under the guidance of Bjorn Baker. The progressive 4yo gelding notched his second Saturday win of the prep, and once again proved his love for rain-affected ground with a strong, determined finish.

Josh Parr rode him to absolute perfection, positioning the gelding ideally before driving him through the line with trademark strength.
